In case you've forgotten I’d like to first remind you that you already know the answers, you are the expert in you. Sometimes it’s just too loud, hectic, or downright scary, making it tough to hear that inner voice of yours.
That’s where reflective journalling comes in to help. It’s a style of journalling where we tap into our inner knowing. It helps us retrieve information from our subconscious mind, the stuff we don’t always have access to. This technique turns you into your own guide.
Let's dive into it right now. Grab your journal, get comfy, and take a few minutes for some deep breaths. Then explore these questions;
What's exciting you right now?
As a child, what were you brought up to believe success was? Does this version still resonate? Why/why not?
If I let myself fully live I would?...
But hold up – there are some rules first: don't just answer the questions in your head. Nope, that's the fast track to a knee-jerk response, often clouded by what others might think. Instead, grab that pen and spill it onto the paper. Let your thoughts roam free—whether it's a list, a letter, or a full-blown diary entry. There's no wrong way to journal; just let it flow.
Then be mindful of judgement, if you notice it creeping in, remind yourself you are simply being curious and writing whatever comes up for you. Just let it flow. When we get into this relaxed flow state we are tapping into our subconscious mind. You may be surprised by the wisdom which surfaces.
