Set Yourself Up for 2025: Reflect, Realign, and Refocus

Set Yourself Up for 2025: Reflect, Realign, and Refocus

Can you feel it in the air? The transition into a new year is an opportunity to welcome in something new, to take a moment and a deep breath to assess where you’ve been, clarify where you’re going, and set meaningful goals that inspire you.

Before we dive into this future planning, it's important to seal in the lessons we have already learnt, without it, we will be destined to learn the same lesson over and over again (no thank you).

  1. Reflect on the Year That’s Been

Before setting goals, take time to process the past year. Think about what worked, what didn’t, and what you learned. I have written a blog if you need extra support with this.
Or use these prompts to guide your reflection:
  • What brought me the most joy in 2024?
  • What were my three most valuable lessons?
  • What habits, mindsets, or patterns held me back?

  1. Work Out What’s Really Important

It’s easy to fall into the trap of setting goals based on what society, culture, or even your friends and family expect of you. We can be swayed in our goal setting by the idea that at certain ages we need to complete certain tasks. I think we can agree this is crap, we are unsubscribing and instead embracing what’s true for us.
Remember, Life isn’t a race, so there’s no need to compare your journey to others. Let’s think about this for a second. Imagine you’re on the motorway heading to your holiday destination, are you racing the cars beside you? Shoot no! Does their car,  speed, passengers or presence matter to you? Gosh no. You co exist together on the motorway while you stay focused on your unique destination.
Answer some of these questions to get you started…
  • Without fear or expectation, what do I really want for myself in 2025?
  • What external pressures am I letting influence my decisions?
  • What does a fulfilling life look and feel like to me?

3. Let Go to Make Space

To create room for your goals, you’ll need to release what no longer serves you. Consider:
  • What mindsets or habits are no longer serving me?
  • What commitments (physical and energetic) can I let go of to create space for my new goals?
  • What fears or doubts do I notice coming up? Are these yours?
Letting go is about choice and making space for what truly aligns.

4. Believe in yourself

You have never been here before. You’ve never been on the planet with this amount of self awareness, knowledge, know how and skill. You may have set goals in the past that didn’t work out, yes, but your lack of achievement really says nothing about your ability. Because the you here, isn’t the you that was there. We don’t need a physicist to agree on that one, do we. Be mindful when your inner dialog runs off to - “I can’t do that”, “I never stick to that". We use those past hick ups as information gathering sessions, they've allowed us access into the workings of you. They've told us about where you get stuck, how you are motivated, gaps in your knowledge or dare I say where a goal does not align with what you truly want.
What you think influences how you feel, which drives how you act. Start with positive, kind, and encouraging thoughts and words - just as you would for a friend—and see how that changes your behaviour.

Setting yourself up for 2025 is about more than writing down resolutions. It’s about reflecting on the past, releasing what no longer serves you, and creating a roadmap for a year that’s authentic to you.
Let this be the year you align with your values, stay in your lane, and pursue goals that truly matter. You’ve got this!
